The Administrative Panel

When you browse to where E.G.G.S. ™ is installed,  it prompts you to login with an administrator password.

Don't forget:

After you have successfully installed E.G.G.S.™ for the first time, the default login information are :

      username: admin

       password: admin

You can change this in the Edit Admin Password after you have successfully logged in.

After you have successfully logged in, you will be directed to the Main Page that looks like this below.

The first thing that you might want to do is to change your Admin Password.

After changing your Admin password, you can now start setting up your E.G.G.S. Configuration.

Just remember that you don't have to change this all the time. Once you have set it up and saved it you don't have to revisit it unless you wanted to change something.

How Edit E.G.G.S. Configuration:

E.G.G.S.™ allows you to create unlimited number of autoresponder mailing lists. All the autoresponders will use the same server settings, which are set globally for all autoresponders created under a single installation of E.G.G.S. ™

How to fill up the different fields:

Hostname:

Here you should setup the server hostname i.e. the name of your HTML/PHP/CGI web server. Usually in web hosting servers, this is set to be localhost.

Database Name:

The database name is name of the database created on a mySQL database server specifically for E.G.G.S. ™ at the time of its installation.

Usually hosting companies allow creation of databases with the format ‘username_databasename’ (without the quotes) where username is the account username for your web space account on that hosting server, and databasename being the name of E.G.G.S. ™ database.

For example, if the username of your hosting account is bizmindz, and you intend to install E.G.G.S. ™, your database will be something like bizmindz_eggs

Some hosting companies do not have such restrictions and allow creation of a new database with freedom of naming it anyway you wish. In such a case, your database name could simply be named eggs

Additionally, a username and password is required by E.G.G.S. ™ to access this database and manipulate it. This database user should have privileges to select, insert and delete values from all tables present in the E.G.G.S. ™ database.

Installation path refers to the full web address of where E.G.G.S. ™ itself is installed. Preferably, E.G.G.S. ™ should be installed within a web folder as a sub folder, and it should not be at root level. This sub folder should have directory access permissions set upon it so that not everyone can access it just like that.

A correct Perl Path is required by E.G.G.S. ™ CGI / perl scripts to run properly.

This may be the local Unix file path. Usually the perl interpreter is located at:

/usr/bin/perl

or

/users/bin/perl

On a Windows hosting machine this may be:

C:\Program Files\ActiveState\Perl

or

C:\Perl

Admin email address is also required here. This will be used for password retrieval. If for example, you forget your login name/ password. You make use the retrieve password feature and your username and password will be mailed to you on this address.
