Step 2 : Creating the MYSQL Database

Now that you have uploaded all the E.G.G.S.™ files and folders into your web host, close your FTP program for a while and let’s create your E.G.G.S™ MYSQL Database.

But before we proceed in creating your MYSQL database, please read this first.

You should be able to do the following (if you are not sure, ask you web host):

  • Create a new MySQL database. This is most ideal since it is very unlikely that you will have problems in installing E.G.G.S™

  • If you are not allowed to create a separate database or if you are allowed to use only one MYSQL database, then you can use your existing database. But keep in mind that if the E.G.G.S™ tables already exist in your database, it will cause problems with your E.G.G.S™ installation.

  • Make it sure that you allowed by your web host to manipulate your MYSQL database. This means that you can create, select, update or delete data in your MYSQL database.

You are now ready to create your E.G.G.S™ MYSQL Database.

To create an E.G.G.S™ MYSQL Database, go to your web host's CPanel, Control Panel or any Administrative Interface to your MySQL database where you can perform such operations.

phpMyAdmin is a popular tool that is commonly provided by hosting services for connecting to your MySQL server. Other tools include CPanel / WHM Interfaces.

If you don’t know how to create an MYSQL database, please contact your hosting service provider for assistance and ask them to setup a database along with a user that has privileges to create, select, update or delete data in your MYSQL database.

After you have created your E.G.G.S™ MYSQL Database, write down the following information in a piece of paper since you will need it later:

  • Database Name

  • Database User Name

  • Database Password
